 Hello Everybody! I seem to be in a pretty creative mood at the moment. And I decided to do some more on my other neglected sewalong, Tulapalooza. This is an Instagram sewalong using the fabrics of the peerless Tula Pink . Technically the sewalong finished at the end of 2019, and I was only doing a block a month instead of a whole quilt top a month, but I do want to finish off my 12 blocks so I can turn them into a quilt. I had managed faithfully until September, but things got away from me towards the end of last year, so I still had 3 blocks left to go. But I now have got through another two blocks, so I only have one outstanding. Here are the October and November blocks.  Hello everybody! It was my little daughter's third birthday on Friday. She is currently a Minnie Mouse fan, and I had this sweatshirt that I bought in a charity shop last year, sitting around waiting for an upcycle. So I turned it into a cushion as a birthday present for her! Making these cushions is a service I offer in my Etsy shop. Partly so I could remember how I did it for myself, I recorded the process to make a photo tutorial for you all.  The bit I really wanted to record was keeping that ruffle at the bottom. This method would work with any similar hem detail you wanted to keep. 1 Turn the top inside out and used a cushion to mark your sewing lines, so your motif (if you have one) sits the way you want it to,.  This top is the right width that I don't have to take in the side seams to fit my cushion (a 16 inch square). I am pretty sure that makes the whole of this process a lot easier. 2 Chop off the bottom ruffle/hem detail. I gave myself 3 inches of fabric to work w

 Hello everybody! I have finally started to catch up with my Focus Cutting Sewalong blocks!  I am running very late with these. I already cut myself down from 1 block a week to 1 block a month in the clearly erroneous belief that I would keep up with that. Lockdown and migraines have seriously screwed up all my sewing (and other) plans for this year, but over the past couple of months, with the kids back at school, my sewjo has definitely come back and I feel ready to try and catch up on some of my poor neglected sewalongs. So, a couple of points to note. Our host, Naomi Clarke, has changed the name from #fussycuttingsewalong to #focuscuttingsewalong. She explains the reasons here . While I am not going to rename my 2018 and 2019 works in progress from the sewalong (Fussy Cutting Forest and Fussy in the Sky with Diamonds) I will be using the term focus cutting for this year's quilt and going forwards.  Hello everyone! I hoped to have this post up on Halloween, but that didn't happen so you can have it on Day of the Dead instead. I have been managing quite a bit of spooky stitching over the last week or so. I finished a little cross-stitch kit! It took me less than an hour. I think it's pretty cute. I'm pretty sure there's enough spare thread to make a second one, as well. And my Halloween La Passacaglia has been making some good progress.  Three of my large rosettes have definitely grown. Here's the biggest purple one. If you compare it to my previous post , you can see the difference. Here's the other purple one. It has just had the outer purple triangle shapes added. And here's one of the orange ones. This one had only the 5 orange centre diamonds done previously. I really like the star effect with this last one, I am almost tempted to make a whole quilt of this star shape, appliquéd onto squares. Not that I need another idea to add to my mental future
