Even more Halloween La Pass

Hello everyone!

I know October is over, but I really seem to have caught the bug for this quilt, so I have been keeping on, making some steady progress with it. Here's what it looked like when I pulled it out to start work on it again a few weeks ago.

And here's where it is now!

I am still very much lacking in suitable fabrics that read white, however one of the beauties of English Paper Piecing is that you can sew the pieces together in whatever order you like, so instead of waiting until I have everything I need, I am working with what I've got even if that means leaving weird shaped gaps all over the place. There are still 11 rosettes I haven't started yet, and the diamonds in between the stars are proving a particular challenge to work on

What I do have is enough grey to make a decent start on the grey pieces. This has allowed me to join two of the large rosettes together.

I also have olenty of black fabrics, including a new pirate one (thanks, Mum, for buying it for me!) which come in useful for the edges and corners.

And I have all the blenders I need for the stars that don't need fussy cutting.

And there's still more I can be getting on with! I can add black pentagons to some of the rosette centres I already have, and there are some black sections for the other purple rosette I can make a start on. I am still missing the purple I need to actually join them on properly, but I've had the black fabric earmarked for ages, so I might as well do those bits and join them on later when I get the purple I want.

I haven't completely abandoned my other projects, in particular the focuscuttingsewalong is ticking along slowly. However, I've struggled with the last few themes so I haven't actually completed a month's worth since my August post. I will update you on progress with that soon.

Thanks for reading!

  1. This quilt is shaping up to be spectacular! I personally feel so behind that NOW I feel like pumpkins and spiders, and I just cannot wrap my brain around the fact that Thanksgiving is almost here. That is a problem, because if I don’t catch up to the calendar and make some meal plans, we’ll be having a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving with cereal, popcorn and toast!
