And more Halloween La Pass

Image
Hello everybody! Seeing as I am feeling re-enthused about my Halloween La Passacaglia project, I have been making steady progress on it. I have been looking at getting the bits I have joined together. Last time, I managed to add a smaller rosette to one of the large purple rosette.  I used this to be able to join on one of my odd-shaped side bits. I then added in some grey path and attached two more rosettes to the side of the large purple one. I have expanded this rosette: And then used it to join my two larger sections together! It's now too big to be able to photograph straight in my kitchen or lounge. Having so much of it joined on to each other like this is really motivating to me, it very much gives me a sense of everything coming together.  I have also been expanding the quilt other places. The second main orange rosette, which will sit in the lower right quadrant of the quilt, has finally had some more white bits added to it. This rosette, and the ones surrounding it is s

Back to La Passacaglia

Hello everyone! I thought it was a time for an update on my  La Passacaglia quilt. I have been slowly working on the large purple rosette. However, it has been going very slowly, and even stalling for weeks at a time. The outer ring isn't stitched on, it's just sitting in the place it will go. The reason for this is that I have been finding all the tiny triangles a bit tedious.  This is a bit of a problem, as there are still literally hundreds of these triangles left to go in the quilt. But I treated myself to a whole bunch of new fabrics at the Festival of Quilts! And this has given me the motivation to put the large purple rosette to one side, and stitch some other parts for now. I have been using the new fabrics to expand some of the smaller rosettes. I have even managed to join one of these on to the larger chunk of rosettes that have been joined together. The other new one connects to the large purple rosette I just put to one side. So I stitched together a couple of bits

August 2022 #focuscuttingsewalong round-up

Hello everybody! Despite my fears last month, I have managed to make at least one block for the sewalong for each week in August! Not much more than that, but still, I kept up. The theme was Movement, with a freestyle Just Because week at the end. I made 8 blocks. I am writing this at my parents house, so I don't have access to all the blocks from put them a single picture. Week 30 was identifiable motifs. I made two blocks. First, some cute toy trains. This was the first fabric I thought of when the theme was announced. I have pretty much reduced the small amount I had to scrap now. Next, these arrows. I have been looking for an excuse to use this shiny, rose-gold arrow fabric for a while, so I was happy to have a theme that it fit into. Week 31 was obscure motifs. I made one block. I really like the effect created here, I think it looks like a spinning Catherine Wheel. The original motif was the front of sporty cars as you can see here in the original fabric. There are alternatin
